Biosecurity is the basis of BVD eradication. Although direct animal contacts constitute the main mechanism of BVD virus spread, it is important to take measures against both direct and indirect forms of BVD disease transmission. BVD vaccines are a central element of biosecurity as they can prevent infection/re-infection of the herd with BVD virus.
